Morning Devotions; Isaiah 43:1-7

But now, thus says YHVH, your Creator, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!

The word for week 8 is Majesty but you will not find it in today’s passage, Isaiah 43:1-7. The concept is here but not the word. I chose Isaiah 43 while working on Ladies Devotions for this week. Isaiah takes us back to both the Red Sea and Joshua 4 when Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground. Isaiah is also our hope for the soon coming future events.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you.

By faith, the priests of the Almighty stepped into the waters of the Jordan but their feet walked on dry land. By faith those same priests stood firm in the river-bed while Israel crossed into the land of promise. And by faith they continued to stand firm against the “flood that overflows” while twelve chosen sons of Israel came back to the river bed to gather memorial stones to take to Gilgal. By faith, they continued to stand firm against the flood waters while Joshua returned to build his own memorial of stone in the center of the riverbed… which is not there until “this” day as our English text reads, but is there until “the” day. I believe that we will see Joshua’s memorial again, on the day of the LORD.

This morning I want to take a very brief look at the soon coming “Day of the LORD” that Isaiah speaks of.

But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3:7 nasu

In the days of Noah, the world of the ungodly was destroyed by a flood. In a general way, the Egyptians were also destroyed by water, their remains can be found on the bottom of the Gulf of Aqaba between the Sinai Peninsula and the coast of Arabia. (I also believe there is more evidence of the days of Moses in the artifacts of King Tut, whom I strongly suspect was the first born of Pharaoh… but that is for another time.) In the days of Joshua, the enemy did not die in the flood of the Jordan, but they testified that they knew they were doomed because of the power of the Almighty who stopped the flow of the Jordan in the flood season so that his people could cross on dry ground.

Days are coming, days that Peter says are … being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment… With the author of the book of Hebrews you may ask,

how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Hebrews 2:3a

If you have come to Y’shua (Salvation in Hebrew, Jesus in English) then you are among those who are precious to the Almighty! The redeemed need not fear the coming judgment of fire. If the Almighty is not slow in returning, then you may well be required to walk through fire, just as Daniel’s three companions did in Daniel Chapter 3. But what does today’s passage tell us?

“Do not fear, for I am with you…

Do you have to be Jewish to receive this promise? Read verse 7 of Isaiah 43

Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”

If you watch the news, you know that evil men do evil things. Maybe we are in the last days, maybe we are just seeing men be who they are as slaves of the wicked Prince of the Power of the Air. But if you have received Y’shua-Jesus, the Salvation, then you have nothing to fear from that day, but I beg you, live worthy of the call!

We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 1 John 4:16-18 kj

There is no fear in love. Abide (make your home) in the Almighty, that is where His love is perfected in us, so that we can face the great shaking (Luke 21:26 and Hebrews 12:26-28) that will come to the world. But you are precious to the Almighty, he is your shield when you abide in Him. Come to Him now, live in Him today, and your forever, which is greater then now (James 4:14) will be glorious!
