There isn’t really a recipe for clam dip. There is only a list of ingredients and garlic salt to taste. The original probably came for grandma’s recipe box in the 50’s. There is NOTHING healthy about this at all.
Clam dip is…..
- 8 oz full fat, quality cream cheese.
- about 3/4 cup full fat (best foods) mayonnaise
- 2 (6.5 oz) cans chopped or minced clams–drained.
- Garlic salt to taste (from a scant 1/2 tsp to 2 tsp)
Put everything into a small mixing bowl, stir it together, taste to see if you got it right.
Tips: You can microwave the cream cheese for 20 seconds to soften it before adding the rest of the ingredients.
I like to sprinkle sliced scallions, parsley, chives, or fresh basil on top. Every man in my house believes these extras are an abomination.
Serve with chips.
